I have hiked the East Bay hills since the early 1970's trying to learn every plant and its edible, medicinal, and cultural uses and to discover and use natives that thrive in gardens. I am a volunteer docent at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden (EBRPD) in Tilden Park (www.nativeplants.org) and lead ethnobotany hikes for Greenbelt Alliance and the El Cerrito Trail Trekkers. I like to share the stories of how different cultures use plants for food, medicine, and art. My iNaturalist name, MugwortDr, is linked to my abiding interest in dreams as a psychologist and the dream-stimulating and other medicinal properties of mugwort such as for Moxa used in acupuncture. See you on the trails. Alan Siegel
