Expert on the flora of Northern Michigan, particularly the western Upper Peninsula.

I'm a naturalist from Lansing, Michigan who graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2020 with a degree in ecology. Although particularly skilled with birds and plants, I am also fascinated by butterflies, herps, odonates, and really any other living thing. I am enthralled by ecology as a whole, particularly in desert, montane, and boreal habitats. Above anything else, I love exploring interesting places and educating others about nature.

During the 2021 field season (April-October), I worked for NEON Science in Land O' Lakes, Wisconsin as a lead flora field technician. I will be returning to that job in 2022, but I'm always interested in other biology work in the Great Lakes region.

I've learned that I'm awful about responding to messages on iNat, so any time-sensitive correspondence is best done by email at nmartine@nmu.edu. Please note that I do not respond to requests to collect seeds from wild plants, and that I will never share locations of wild orchids.
