I'm a professor of biodiversity, ecology, agroecology, organismal biology, and natural resources management at Zamorano University in Honduras, where I have been based since 2011. For 18 years before that, I studied the birds of El Salvador, while studying my Ph.D. in ecology at the University of Kansas, and a bachelor's in zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University, and then working for the El Salvador Ecological Foundation (SalvaNATURA). I grew up in Massachusetts, as an avid birder since the age of 7. I review eBird records for Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua, and have written numerous publications about birds and biodiversity, including co-authoring the Peterson Field Guide to Birds of Northern Central America in 2016.
