When I'm not looking up for birds, I am looking at the ground to try to identify the plants, insects, and fungi that make up our ecosystem. No bugs, no birds! Virtually every bird species is 100% reliant on arthropods at some point of its lifecycle. (Also, bugs are cool in their own right.)

My profile pic is of the Seaside Dragonlet, the only dragonfly in the Americas that can start its life cycle in fully salty ocean water--a beautiful and impressive creature!

I am learning the local insect fauna and am trying to help with IDs primarily of moths in my region with the aid of Bugguide, Beadle & Leckie, BAMONA, and any resources I can lay my hands on.

Looking for up-to-date resources on fungi in the Eastern United States or a mentor there. Not interested in foraging, just interested in trying to make better observations and learn and ID local fungi accurately. If you have any sources please feel free to send me a message.
