Udani is an experienced Botanist/Taxonomist/Molecular Systematist providing mainly plant identification expertise in Environmental Consulting in Western Australia. She started her career as a taxonomist specialising in Juncaceae in 2004.

Udani holds a Doctorate in Plant Systematics & Taxonomy from the University of Adelaide and her thesis was based on the morphological and molecular phylogeny of Thysanotus (Fringed Lilies). She has published numerous papers and abstracts on her ongoing research.

She is passionate about recognising, identifying and conserving rare and priority plant species and has published a number of new species.
