Lots of iNat fun in April 2021

We have some great opportunities to document biodiversity coming up in April!

CNC

The main event is the City Nature Challenge - this is Baton Rouge's first year participating in the event. It is April 30 - May 3 and the goals are to:
1) Get the public to explore nature by adding observations to iNat
2) Document biodiversity
3) Win the friendly competition for most species and most observations against New Orleans and Lake Charles.

The Baton Rouge City Nature Challenge area consists of: Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, Tangipahoa, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. Any observations made in these parishes during the event will automatically be aggregated in our project:

Please encourage public participation! More info and a flyer:

Rendezvous

In lieu of an in-person event, the Louisiana Master Naturalist Association is hosting a virtual Rendezvous this year. The festivities will include a scavenger hunt April 3 - April 24, and the iNat project for that is here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/lmna-2021-scavenger-hunt. Register to participate at: https://www.louisianamasternaturalist.org.

BREC BioBlitz

BREC's annual bioblitz is on April 17 at Zachary Community Park. Look for information and registration here soon: https://www.brec.org/index.cfm/page/bioblitz.

Hilltop Long-Term Survey

Not just in April - LMNGBR is running a long-term biodiversity survey of LSU Hilltop Arboretum and we could use your observations any time of year for this project! Any observations made by visitors at Hilltop are automatically included in the project.

For quick access to any of these projects, there is a "join" button in the top right corner of each project. After you join, you can quickly access your Projects in your profile menu.

Thank you for your participation!
