Fantastic guided walk today with lots to see on a maritime-urban transect through the Gwent Levels into Newport. Plenty of records and fascinating details about the area. Great to spot a couple of dune-loving snails (Xeroplexa and Cernuella) where the soils become sandy on the riverside. And squadrons of St. Mark's Fly appearing just about on cue. Many thanks to Gavin (Newport Transporter Bridge), Jeremy (RSPB volunteer), and all who took part. Diolch pawb!
