SC Herpetological Society Invitation

Hello fellow herpers!

We officially have a statewide group called the South Carolina Herpetological Society. This is intended to be a place for like-minded individuals who have a love of South Carolina herps to contribute their efforts. Our mission is "to foster the appreciation of South Carolina herpetofauna through education, outreach, and the support of research". We plan to host field trips, professional meetings, and serve as an educational resource for the public. This group is open to everyone, but it will have a professional focus. Visit our website at http://scherpsociety.com/ and like us on Facebook and Instagram. We are just starting, so we have a lot of work to do! Feel free to message me directly through iNaturalist, email me at tmoody@ccprc.com, or message us through the website if you have any questions or would like to contribute in a bigger way.

Scales and slime,

Tess Moody

Welcome to Herps of SC!

Welcome!
I have created this project to try to condense all of the herp observations across South Carolina into a single project, which will aid in our understanding of the ranges of our herps, especially the vulnerable and introduced ones. I hope to make this similar to some of the other state herp projects with annual competitions with prizes, meetings, and functions to engage and educate the general public. Anyone interested in helping with the curation of this project, let me know! I will need help in adding observations to this project and keeping up with identification. Familiarity with SC herps is the only requirement.
Good luck herping!
