Well WOWZA!

Look at this project GROW! Sometime in 2025 I bet we'll get over the 1,000,000 mark in observations, all in the modestly-sized but biodiverse county of San Mateo. Quite a thrill to see what we've managed to document - through fires, climate change, habitat changes and more. Think of how, with every passing year of accumulated data, this project becomes more valuable.

We all picked a winner when we joined iNaturalist! Keep on keeping on!

As many of you know, I have moved out-of-area to Rochester NY, at least for awhile. Here I am helping with my 98-year-old Mom's elder care, enjoying learning a new set of biodiverse places, and fostering community among iNaturalists. We rocketed from obscurity to more than double our previous county record for the City Nature Challenge, for instance.

BUT I do miss my beloved Bay Area and San Mateo county. I will be back for a few days next week, and will be iNaturalizing with friends for sure! I'm going to tag a few folks below but if you know me and want to visit while using our smart phones smartly, I'd love to see you.

Days when iNaturalizing will be most likely are
Friday October 4 (San Mateo coast)
[Saturday October 5 I am on a pelagic out of Half Moon Bay harbor]
Sunday October 6 - at the Sequoia Audubon Society's 75th Anniversary party, 11 am to 3 pm at Twin Pine Parks in Belmont. Some bayside San Mateo county iNatting likely to happen before and after the Big Event. [sign up for the event on Eventbrite - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sequoia-audubon-society-75th-anniversary-celebration-registration-902737180207 ]
Monday October 7 - likely some time in the East and/or South Bay
Tuesday October 8 - undecided time and place

I will return for other visits, more frequently I hope, in 2025.

THANKS FOR USING iNATURALIST and DOCUMENTING OUR AMAZING COUNTY!

Jennifer
