Heads up: Some or all of the identifications affected by this split may have been replaced with identifications of Nyctimystes. This happens when we can't automatically assign an identification to one of the output taxa. Review identifications of Nyctimystes infrafrenatus 517066

@loarie split set up & atlased. New taxon record needs to be grafted but I'm unable to do it.

Nyctimystes tenuigranulata (Boettger, 1895) was described almost 130 years ago. I assume it was lumped with N. infrafrenatus and now re-split? What happened to other related taxa? Is there a peer-reviewed article about the taxonomy of N. infrafrenatus, N. tenuigranulata and related taxa?

@nhaass
Sulaeman, Hamidy, Farajallah, Fouquet, Riyanto, Arida, Mulyadi, Trilaksono, and Munir, 2021, Biodiversitas, 22: 3287.
It's not the best of papers, and the name is misspelled, but it stands for now. N. infrafrenata is likely to be split further in the near future.

Thanks, @rfoster, I only had a brief glimpse at the paper. It looks a bit preliminary but Figure 2 shows a clear separation. I think a broader and deeper study will be necessary. But yes, I need to read more carefully first.
