Taxonomic Split 72097 (Committed on 2020-02-18)

Mallophaga as traditionally described is paraphyletic and is retired by most taxonomists who specialize in lice. Though names like "Chewing Lice" and "Bird Lice" are still valid terms that many people will recognize, they do not represent a discrete monophyletic group.
