Description

In lawn under Acer campestris, Prunus serrulata and liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua). Growing in lines. Fruiting body rather large (see foot for scale). Pileus flat when mature, mostly whitish-grey with faint orange cast, except for centre where most examples had a few orange striations, mature examples had the pileus peeling in places. Gill pale orange to white-orange (darker toward bases). Stipe without an obvious ring, stout, fibrous, outer surface falking in orange-white shards. Description

Growing invasively all along the southern perimeter shelter belt at Villa Maria Estate winery. Some vines 10m + high, and many seedlings.

Description

Waikumete Cemetery, growing on clay at the border of tea tree scrub and open ground (see photo 4 for habitat context), in the southern gumland, down near the railway line. Associated species: Goebelobryum unguiculatum.

Description

Saxicolous on scoria blocks placed in wild flower and bulb garden. Associated with Chiloscyphus semiteres var. semiteres, Porpidia sp., Stereocaulon ramulosum, Weissia controversa, and Parmotrema reticulatum. Forming large, brittle 'cushions' up to 150 mm diameter. Specimens match the type of Cladia blanchonii

Description

Observations taken from the type locality of this species (Auckland's Mt Albert Unitec Campus). Images show Cladia blanchonii and the person who found it, and who the lichen is named after Dr Dan Blanchon (see Parnmen et al. 2013).

Description

Uncommon - noted on a fallen canopy branch (species unknown) lying amongst Passiflora caerulea.

Upper thallus dark red-brown when fresh, punctate impressed, sorediate, soredia forming a pseudoisidiate crust centrally; thallus lobes broad; thallus undersides bullate, densely covered in dark chocolate brown tomentum, pseudocyphellae large, copious, mostly seen toward thallus apices. Apothecia not seen.
