Below Vantage

There was a huge fire in the sage steppe around the I-90 corridor west of Vantage this year. I drove down to see the results along the road south from Vantage along the Columbia near the Wanapum Dam.

There was a parking area with an exposed beach where I took the photos of the creatures on the gumweed. The wind was stiff, so the flowers were swaying a lot, making good photos nearly impossible. I posted the caterpillars to show they were there, but don't have a lot of hope that they can be identified.

I also drove down into the state park and took some photos there as well.

(Not an exciting post. I use these to group the observations so I can find them when I want to.)

Quincy Lakes

Stopped to look over some recent fire damage and take some photos today. Focus was on the lichens on exposed basalt.

Invaders

Western Conifer Seed Bug? What's up with that. None in my area otherwise. Am I the only one to find them or did bringing home plants from Molbak's cause this? Do I need to tell anyone?

I get the Asian Lady Beetle. I think that one was only a matter of time.
