Living in the Netherlands, interest in European Plants, birds, dragonflies, butterflies and Skunkweed. Subscribed 2013-07-08 14:50 GMT+02:00 but only recently adding observations, currently with photos. In my country it is less common to proof your observation with photos but in iNaturalist without photos your observation in not that valueable. It seems the language setting is related to your location while, in my opinion, it is more related to the nationality of the observer. That is easy to say in the Netherlands..as Holland is soo small and the world is soo big. As Loarie is adding some of my photos i hope the Ai/ComputerVision will get much better. I would start with a much lower thershold (5/6 photos) in stead of the currently 20 and upgrade the theshold every year..so more suggested species would be in the Computer Vision App. As i have some observations of Armenia, Cuba and Belarus it will increase the world wide coverage of iNaturalist. It is no problem if the software is english but would like the taxonomy available in more languages...like Dutch. OK, here is how you can see your options: In the Community ID box, click "compare", then set the Place to "South America", and for Taxon, type in Calycopis, you'll get: these 4 matches in that genus: C.origo, C.isobeon, C.caulonia, C.cerata. But then try "Lycaenidae" (the larger family), and you'll get Ministrymon azia, and Strymon melinus added to that list of 6 very similar species. You may need a more local expert.

It is possible using the unobserved_by_user_Id parameter in the observations view.

2 caveats

if you do a species view, you are restricted to the 500 most frequently seen species unless you start filtering down (ie add birds or beetles etc)
the ‘unseen’ is not geographic specific, it counts you as having seen it if you have seen it, but not in the location you specify.(so for example in the list below, Grey Kingbird will not appear, even though I have never observed one in Ontario, just elsewhere)
For excample this url shows all the birds reported from Ontario that I personally have not seen (or more accurately not recorded an iNat record for as I have actually seen some of them)

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=7506&subview=table&taxon_id=3&unobserved_by_user_id=ahospers&view=species9

you can add additional filters for hrank and lrank equals species if you want to get rid of the genus level records.

all these Check Rep observations have been placed (wrongly) in Amurskiy rayon, KH, RU https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/identify?quality_grade=needs_id%2Cresearch%2Ccasual&user_id=ahospers&place_id=42066&captive=false

But it would also be helpful, for example, if you know a particular person is an expert in a taxon. If you could find observations they've added IDs to, There's also this somewhat hidden endpoint where you can search
Identifications by taxon and user e.g.:
https://www.inaturalist.org/identifications?taxon_id=171769&user_id=loarie
Try "ident_user_id"
https://www.inaturalist.org/identifications?ident_user_id=loarie
I find it very easy and quick to annotate my observations in the Identify tool right after I upload them, now that I’ve gotten into the habit. I’ve bookmarked https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/identify?reviewed=true&quality_grade=needs_id%2Cresearch&user_id=tiwane and this shows me all of my own observations I’ve reviewed (ie observations to which I’ve added an ID), with the latest ones first. Then it’s just a matter or going through them. That URL should work for anyone, just replace “tiwane” with your own username.
