Réseau iNaturalist

Le réseau iNaturalist est un ensemble de sites Web régionaux soutenus par des organismes locaux qui sont entièrement branchés à la communauté mondiale d’iNaturalist.

Tandis que votre nom d’usager et mot de passe fonctionne dans tous les sites du réseau iNaturalist, il est avantageux de vous associer à iNaturalist Canada, car :

  • la plateforme est adaptée aux habitants et aux espèces du Canada : les cartes, le dénombrement des espèces et les recherches (de personnes, de projets et d’endroits) affichent des résultats canadiens (mais vous pouvez toujours faire une recherche dans la plateforme mondiale aussi)
  • le site est en anglais et en français
  • il est plus facile pour le comité directeur d’iNaturalist.ca d’accéder aux données et de les partager avec des organismes de conservation au profit de la biodiversité canadienne
  • iNaturalist.ca peut communiquer avec les utilisateurs plus facilement et fournir des mises à jour sur les activités d’iNaturalist
  • vos observations contribueront au réseau mondial

Pour ces raisons, nous vous encourageons à vérifier que vous êtes associé à iNaturalist Canada dans les paramètres de votre compte. Même si vous utilisez iNaturalist.ca, il se pourrait que vous soyez quand même associé à iNaturalist.org!

Si vous choisissez de vous associer à iNaturalist Canada, le comité directeur d’iNaturalist Canada aura accès à votre adresse courriel (seulement pour vous parler des activités d’iNaturalist) et aux véritables coordonnées des observations que vous avez obscurcies ou rendues privées. Plateforme mondiale sur la biodiversité

Le réseau iNaturalist est composé de divers organismes :

Le département iNaturalist de la California Academy of Sciences et la National Geographic Society. Ces organismes exploitent la plateforme mondiale iNaturalist.org. Voici l’infrastructure principale du réseau :

iNaturalist Network

The iNaturalist Network is a collection of localized websites supported by local institutions, that are fully connected to the global iNaturalist community.

While your username and password works on all sites that are part of the iNaturalist Network, choosing to affiliate to iNaturalist Canada benefits our wildlife and people living in Canada:

  • Caters to people and species in Canada: maps, species counts, and searches (for people, projects, and places) display Canadian results (but you can still choose to search the global network too)
  • Available in French and English
  • Data is more easily accessed by the iNaturalist.ca Steering Committee and can be securely shared with conservation organizations to benefit Canadian biodiversity
  • iNaturalist.ca can contact users more easily to provide updates on the site and iNaturalist undertakings
  • It still contributes to the global iNaturalist network

For these reasons, we encourage you to check to see if you are affiliated with iNaturalist Canada in your account settings. Even if you have been using iNaturalist.ca, you may still have been affiliated to the more general iNaturalist.org all this time!

If you choose to affiliate with iNaturalist Canada, the iNaturalist Canada Steering Committee will have access to your email address (only to communicate with you about iNaturalist undertakings) and access to the true coordinates for observations that you have chosen to obscure or make private. A Global Platform for Biodiversity

The iNaturalist Network consists of several organizations:

The iNaturalist Department of the California Academy of Sciences and National Geographic Society. These organizations are operating the global platform iNaturalist.org. This is the underlying infrastructure for the Network:
