Winding down...

Field time is waning fast now, but there is still time to explore shorelines and riverbanks for shells in areas where you haven't been yet or where water levels were still too high last time you visited.

Muskrats are actively predating mussels all summer long and well into fall in shallow rivers and creeks and those middens are worth perusing through before water levels start going up again, so it's a good occasion to take advantage of our favorite Little Helper's hard work!
